Poems for the Homeless

No food in the house
My daddy got laid off his work a month ago
we struggling to pay our bills
now the house is under foreclosure
where we will go nobody knows for sure
for two days now there is no food in the house
the last food we had came from next door
yes left overs from over there
yesterday i got chucked out from school
daddy could not pay the school fees
he got nothing not even a dime for a cola
for now tap water will do
where is the government?
i wonder and ponder
does it know we are suffering?

Poem for the HOMELESS by BjS(c)2010

Once I thought that homelessness meant those who live on the street. You know the one who beg on freeway ramps, in the old days they used to call em "tramps". And everyone thats homeless isn't diggin in the trash for something to eat. He or she can look like you or ME.
But a homeless person is one who has been displaced and last time I checked it had nothing to do with age or race.Like anybody even you , anyone you walk past on the street. Homeless can be anyone you MEET.

He lost his job, her husband left, her landlords lowdown slime trying to get sex when its rent paying time. When you say no you in that Homeless line. Being poor or temporarily broke should never be a crime. And being homeless is a restless state of mind. Fearing for your safety, sanity and to be restored...your mind is working overtime just to survive!

If you don't work then you don't eat, you can"t keep clothes, house or shoes on your feet. Does it mean you are a failure are marked amongst the damned? Going without an address no place to call your own when once you had your "own place" when once you had a home. Sad to say but if you are homeless you are not alone. You have been joined by masses of weary, worn and worried souls.

You can work a job and a half and still end up taking a shyt bath cause the world is corrupt and leaves you in the dust and thats the "Working Poor"...can't pay the bills without a check, does that mean you get no respect? No, just means you need a friend to step in...a miracle, a blessing, a windfall CALLED CHANGE!

The person on the Bus Stop dressed for work like you. May not have had a roof last night or even friends to go to. Remember when your uncle came? The one who went to Vietnam...he came to stay for just a day and ending up staying much much longer...and when he got stronger, he was blessed to find his way!

I remember watching him go pimping out that door. He was proud to be back on his feet and not a burden anymore. Or what about the lady whose husband up and ran away, with no money, no car and no place to stay. The landlord had no sympathy and said they had to be also on their way. One woman three lil kids!

Then I remember the people at the church their house burned down while they were at work, some sleeping smoking jerk! Now they have no place to stay , no clothes to wear but when they left their HOME this morning the left without worry for shelter ...til life came and turned their world HELTER SKELTER!

A homeless person I don't even like the sound it makes me feel grateful and ashamed that I am doing better, but once I was not so fortunate ended up sleeping on my sister's sofa for six weeks...YEAH HOMELESS even happened to me!

So we bless the hands that work for change and clear our mind of stereotypes and Yes you better believe the HYPE...one more person went homeless since I began to TYPE!

Give me a Dollar or a Pound

Give me a dollar or a pound
Got nothing to go around
No food on the table
Give me a few coins please
My life sucks and is a mess
Got thrown out from the shelter
Only you are my helper.

American Dream

American dream…
you remain a dream
Tried this and that
Every trick in the game
But all remain the same
No more tricks in the hat
Got nothing left
No house or money
Every day is a struggle
Cannot make ends meet
American dream
A dream you remain

Dear  Lord !!!

Dear  Lord !!!
I just lost my house
No more roof over my head
Got no money for bread
Got nothing to eat, no food
Not even jelly or peanut butter
The kids are hungry and crying
I don’t know what to do
Lord! You are my only hope
Cause I cannot cope
To you I pray
Amen!

The Penn Station Blues

He’s a Vet
Vietnam
Abandoned and stuck
He lost a leg
He never did find post-war luck.

She’s a mother
Clothes for cover
Torn sheets atop concrete
With all baggage in tow
The pavement and a battered heart meet.

He’s a son
Look what he’s become
To pressure
He succumbed
Potential underutilized
though overly qualified.

They are real people
They are the honorable
They are the sacrificial
They are the gifted
They were ordinary people.

Now change comes regularly
But when will their change come?

People
People who stay in a state of angry euphoria
Think it aint normal unless it worry ya.
In a constant mode of kill ...
Thrill...
"You"
With words that shoot like bullets
Richocheing from your ears to your heart.
finger on the trigger
pull it pull it.
Make yourself feel fine
At the expense of mine.
My account is running empty
Oops...check bounced

This poem is for those who have negativity towards the homeless.
Until you are in someones shoes don't judge or let yourself be ignorant to their plight.
Words cut deep. Choose them wisely.
Peace everyone

Got Nothing

Got nothing got nothing got nothing
Zero  I say again got nothing
No home, no job, no shelter, no money
No clothes, no blankets, no food
Got nothing got nothing got nothing
No love no respect no freedom no honor

Homeless and Nameless

I am homeless and nameless
Nobody knows my name
I got no roof over my head
I live out there in the streets
I am the boy and girl you call destitute
Sleeping rough and tough at the train stations
I am the man or woman who lost their jobs
The same person who lost their homes
Nobody knows our names or faces
We cannot stand and be counted in our nation
What a shame the statue of liberty must be crying

STUCK IN A DUMPSTER

Here I am stuck in this dumpster which has become my home…
having been chased and forced to flee away from my real home.
My sole cause of existence had been battered, threatened,
crushed and devastated I became.
Fleeing then seemed to be the only way to survive,
but how can one survive without a home?

Here I am stuck and trapped in this dumpster which I now call home.
For better or worse I have to accept it and take it like a man,
though the pill might be bitter for me to swallow.

Here I am stuck in this dumpster, my home it has become.
Day in day out I see them coming and going,
dressed in sheep’s clothing and yet they scheme and move like wolves on a hunt…
stupid they think I am, but who are they to judge me?
What gives them the power to?
What gives them the right?

A POEM FOR THE HOMELESS,

the weak and the wounded,
the struggling souls who've been abused and mistreated,
you can brighten someone's day with a gesture of kindness,
you can help the brokenhearted with the change in your pocket.
So do this when you can, give the best that you can,
you'll be blessed in abundance,
more than you could understand,
every one of us at some point will need a helping hand,
to get back on our feet to get on up and stand.
Sometimes all it takes is just a dollar or two.
If you were down and out you'd want someone to do the same for you ~
