Zim's Finest Centre Party and Sniper Storm - Supporting the Youths

In a time where most of the artists world wide are singing about cake soap, bleaching, girl, sex, parties, smokes, drugs, drinks and this list can go on and on; two of the finest artist from Zimbabwe are taking a different route by singing about the youths in the ghetto and what is really needed to help the youths of today become better leaders of tomorrow.

The artist goes by the name of Centre Party “Di Lion King” and Sniper Storm “Di General”, the two did a show on September 10, at Hustler's Leisure Centre in Bulawayo Zimbabwe. The show was well received and they got together the very next day to do a collaboration. The outcome of that union is a song called “In Di Ghetto”.

The songs starts out with the golden voice of both artists, “You Know what we need in the ghetto, You know what we want” then your hear the next line and you now know the mood of this tune “ Big up the youths in di ghetto, Give them more sports facilities in the ghetto” and then Sniper storms comes in with his lines “More access to Education” “ Cause it pains me to see the youths sleep out ah doors” “enough ghetto gal ah star in ah freaky shows” Centre Party now says “We need tennis courts in di ghetto, we need basketball courts in the ghetto.... nuff upliftment in the ghetto”

Indeed we need nuff nuff upliftment in the ghetto and my hat goes off to these two artist for bringing attention to the ills in the ghetto and also letting us know what is needed to solved some of these issues .

Lidanjam Kenya' International Reggae Artiste

Lidanjam Raah
Lidanjam was born on 16th of August in a small town called Thika a few kilometers from Nairobi the Capital City of Kenya. He attended primary education at Jamhuri Primary School and later went to Broadway High School for his Secondary Education both in Thika Town.
His musical talent was realized at the age of 18 while still in high school, where he wrote lyrics inspired by reggae musicians especially Don Carlos. He could listen and sing along to the Legends music until he could compose his own lyrics.
Thika was a town much influenced by the Rastafarian movement which saw Lidanjam’s music grow with a foundation of Reggae, he formed musical groups with other friends, they could attend concerts where different selecta’s, Djs and sound systems were playing every other weekend. His skills developed as he would MC and perform for free. He would collect international riddims/instrumentals and would compose his own lyrics n sing along with the instrumentals.
In 2005 Lidanjam got an opportunity to record is first single for Vineyard Records in Buruburu Nairobi where he got financial support from his late mother Jane Wanjiru. The song received good response which made Lidanjam more motivated to pursue music as a career.Brought up by a single parent, life wasn’t bread and butter for him. Despite all the challenges Lidanjam was more determined to make something great out of himself.

Due to lack of recording studios at the time in Thika, Lidanjam moved to Mombasa, an Island off the coast of Kenya where he stayed with family members. The Island had already established recording studios and different radio stations where Lidanjam saw an opportunity to grow and establish himself as an artist to reckon with.
It wasn`t easy for Lidanjam as a new artist at the coast for he had to prove himself and earn his place in the music industry, no one paid attention to his music at the time and it was hard for him to get a producer who would believe in him. Not until later Lidanjam produced his first song for Green house Records in Mtopanga in the North coast and shot a video with Rich pictures, Digital pictures and Rip-Lay Media.

This made Lidanjam noticeable, some artists welcomed him while some saw him as a threat so it was hard to get airplay on any of the radio stations for he was just a fresh and new artist at the coast. It took a while until a radio station called Radio Kaya started playing Lidanjam’s music later followed by Pwani Fm and Baraka Fm.
Lidanjam lost touch with the main land Nairobi and his home town Thika for a while and saw the need to reconnect with his fans on the mainland, so he started to market his music in the mainland though it wasn`t easy to get back and start getting airplay. He would send songs to radio stations in Nairobi and not get any airplay, not until later, his song “I Don’t Love you” got into the homegrown segment on Metro fm in Nairobi Kenya where he started to get into limelight, He met Deejay Stano a deejay on Metro Fm who motivated him and gave him support.
It wasn’t easy to get airplay everyday so Lidanjam sort other ways of getting his music out to his fans. In Kenyy, public service vehicles locally known as “Matatus”, played mix tapes of different Deejays and selectors. Lidanjam saw it as a good way to reach out to his fans, so he sought contacts of a popular deejay at the coast called Deejay Bunduki “champion of the streets” where he arranged a meeting with him and submitted his music. With time they became friends and started working together where Lidanjam would record jingles popularly recognizable with Lidanjam`s signature “RAAAH” where he got his title the “ROARING SINGER”. Deejay Bunduki introduced him to another deejay from Nairobi popularly known as Deejay Mantix king of the streets whom started to use Lidanjam`s jingles in his mix tapes.

Lidanjam has performed alongside local and International artists like Gyptian, DingDong, RDX among others and has worked with different producers and recording studios.
He has a Video album called “vuta vuta” containing 9 videos and a bonus video.
Lidanjam’s music can be defined as experimental reggae for his ability to incorporate other genre like Hip-hop, R&B and others in to his music.
During his free time, Lidanjam enjoys going to the beach, drawing, movies and music.
Lidanjam is multitalented and his main aim is to educate, inspire and motivate different people of different ages through his God given talents.

It is not easy, but if you are positive, motivate and believe in yourself, set your mind to what you want in your life and put God first in everything that you do, SKY IS NO LIMIT. Stay Bless RAAAAAH
