Ras Madedo
An award winning artiste, Ras Madedo hails from the beautiful African Country of Kenya, winner of the 2009/2010 Best Reggae/Ragga Artiste of the Year in the Kenya Coast Music Awards .
His musical career started in 2004 as a singer in a local band in the Coastal City of Mombasa. doing many stage shows at several hotels, beaches and local clubs.
In 2007, he performed at The Second Annual East Africa Reggae Fest performing along side The late Mighty King-Kong ; and in the same year he performed along-side Israel vibrations Apple Gabriel. He has also performed together with big names like Teddy Dan, Stargate Family and recently, Gyptian during his Kenyan Tour.
Ras Madedo first album title “What’s Going Wrong” tells the story of love gain and love lost, the struggle of the poor and downhearted, of friendship and of freedom. The Album, a grand effort for this artist and is one you will enjoy from track one to track ten. Now available on Itunes and all other online retail stores.

1. What is the meaning of your name? {group if applicable}:
"Ras" means 'Head or king or even prince' which is amharic word for Ethiopia,"Madedo" is my birth name which means 'words' from Taita language from the coast province of Kenya E.Africa.
2. What does your music bring to the reggae genre?
My music brings in the aspect of diversity, since everyone in the world knows reggae comes only from Jamaica. This is to say or perfect the fact that, when the tree grows big n big, well, even its roots stratches further and further so I and I a deh roots. I still bring in the real culture of Africa since me a real Africa and thus keeping it Africa.
3. Who influenced you? And what is your motivation?.
I am a big Fun of Bob marley, Lucky Dube and Steel Pulse so I want to believe dat they are the force behind my music and I can't lie to you my motivation is the day to day challenges I pass through and that they bring with then, you can even get it in my music Seen.
4. What do you see as the future of reggae and music in general?
I'm afriad we might not be trouding on road our father had wished we to move on, but this might be because of the mixed cultures or the worked of mistry babylon, but still certained that time will tell, Jah will take it over soon, sellah!
5. Playing or recording what do you prefer?
I prefer both playing and recording though I do recording alone.

They should know that am the fourth in the family of seven, mother(Beatrice) father(Norman) and Four siblings, 1st born(Gibson) 2nd(Bornface) 3rd(Ruth) 4th(Me) and last born (Abdi).
I come for the ghettos of Kisauni,Mwandoni. Also Educated. I like our traditional food called Ugali(cooked maize flour) and Munyinya (beater herbs) and chapati(fryed mold white flour) and maharagwe(beans).
