Nadine Marie Interview


Nadine Miller grew up in Spanish Town, St. Catherine. Nadine was the oldest of three girls for the Miller's family and is also a Trained Teacher presently attending the Shortwood Teachers’ College.

Singer/songwriter/dancer found her found her talent, during her early years at the Jonathan Grant High School in the 90's -majored in music was her first love. Music started when she found an all girls vocal group at the school;
they called themselves ‘N'voy’.” I encouraged the vocal group to enter the Tastee Talent Contest in 1998” where they reached the semifinals. The group furthered their success, and became second place winners in the Jamaica Cultural Gospel Competition (2005) with one of the biggest Gospel hits “Cry for Change” written by Nadine Miller.

Taking a new turn with her solo career, she has been through different forums in the music industry, working with names such as Katalyst Crew, George Nooks, Chevelle Franklyn, Radic, Dwayne (Wire) Fletcher keyboard player from C-Sharp, Dj Nicholas,
Kerron Ennis, Ryan Mark, Jenieve/Robert, Grub Cooper, Dale 'dizzle' Virgo, Perpetual Praise and our local acts and producers.

Nadine Marie can remember special moments like sharing her talent, singing for the Prime minister Hon. P.J Patterson's Festival in 2002 at the James Bond Beach, St. Mary. The Independence Jamboree for J.C.D.C 2005 where the Hon. Portia Simpson-Miller
was a special guest. She also share stage with international Artists like- Mary Mary, Kirk Franklyn, Sherwin Gardner, Love Circle (Trinidad), Emerand Henry (St. Lucia)

Nadine Marie now promote her new singles ‘Woeh’, ‘Put yu Hands Up’ and “Nothing At All’ (valentine Special),‘People Say’ producers Ariff Butler, Dale Virgo and Alex Martin- Blanken.

“I believe that God have cause me to go through some things for a purpose and literally struggled to get out of it, these experiences have built me as an individual, a minister of the gospel: for the good to come. Through these songs I share my moments and testimonies with the world. I desire for the day to come when my country will be change through music that I preach”.


1. What is the meaning of your name? {group if applicable
}

I look at my name as a Powerful, Strong and Creative individual that has been given to me as a title by my mother. however I change my name from nadine miller to nadine marie which attracts a younger audience in music.

2. What does your music bring to the reggae genre?

My music brings hope, comfort and smile because my aim is to bring peace and sincerity to individuals giving them a sense of reassurance; making them feel good about themselves.

3. Who influenced you? And what is your motivation?

The person that influenced me was my mother, HYACINTH MILLER, She was the one who literally pushed me into music, tell all her friends and church members about her daughter who sings, even when [ I ] didn't want to... that [has] motivated me to be what I am today.

4. What do you see as the future of reggae and music in general?

There is a great influenced on reggae music,it's cultural background, since the great Bob MARLEY and THE wailers, reggae music as took a turn for the better. For the future, its gonna be phenomenon, because the younger artiste are coming up with some crazy ideas. We just need more positivity in the music.

5. Playing or recording what do you prefer?

It doesn't matter, because I enjoy what do...singing and the only way persons can hear what material you are coming up with you should record.

6. Please tell the folks what you would like them to know.

I would like people to know that it doesnt matter what God you are serving there is one SUPREME BEING and he is standing by through this crisis we are facing as a nation , don't give up, keep the medition and unity as a country and a nation through music ...WE CAN!!!!!

Formulla’s music is uniquely his own style of reggae which brings forth a powerful message of peace, love and unity to all through his soothing voice and uplifting lyrics. His songs come from deep within his own indomitable spirit, there by resonating with a love that is pure, peaceable and easy to be entreated by all who hear him.

His greatest desire is for all people to be free from the barriers and hindrances that prevent them from becoming the magnificent masterpieces that he sincerely believes each one of us were created to be.

Formulla’s desire for personal success is not a selfish one, but rather driven by his aspiration to build a school in Jamaica that will one day educate and mold the minds of the young men and women who live there. With education and opportunity, these young people can in turn, reach their full potential and touch the lives of others in a very profound, positive and meaningful way.

Until this dream comes to full fruition, Formulla continues to educate, enlighten and inspire each and everyone he can through the most powerful means he has… His Music. Formulla believes IN UPLIFTING people, because as he says "thier is good in all people regardless of religion, race or creed".

As an artist my name Formulla embodies a lyrical platform that can be used to tackle a variety of real life issues. If there is a resolve, the inspiration of the most high will help me find it.

2. What does your music bring to the reggae genre?

Meaningful music, My songs re instills needed timeless truths for all generations

3. Who influenced you? And what is your motivation?

My greatest influences musically is the most high God, My motivation is the duty he has given me. I am ever grateful for this gift, humbled by the fact that I was chosen to be one to impact so many people lives in a positive way through music.

4. What do you see as the future of reggae and music in general?

Reggae is ever evolving. The possibilities are endless it's global presence in the music diaspora is well established. The future of music in general has been dictated by the state of mind of the people since the beginning of time and so it will be till time is no more.

5. Playing or recording what do you prefer?

Recording.

6. Please tell the folks what you would like them to know.

That there is a God and all men are created by him, be as just as you can be,
because we are just here for a season. we are part of a cycle. Vainly it's unwise
to idle. This life we live is not our own. Very soon you will have to carry on.
